Let Love Lead This Season
Happy New Year… yes, again.
January moved so beautifully that I wanted to sit with it before rushing to say anything. It was full of quiet wins, alignment, answered prayers, and gentle reminders that God really does move in seasons. I felt covered. I felt seen. I felt prepared.
And now here we are — February, my favorite month.
I’ve always loved love. Not just the flowers and romance (though I’ll never say no to those .. haha ), but the meaning of love. February reminds me that love shows up in so many forms — God’s love, family love, self-love, Black love, and the kind of love that builds you while you’re becoming.
For me, love starts with God’s love. The kind that protects your heart, reroutes your plans, and still gives you good things. The kind of love that doesn’t rush you, but prepares you. That whispers, “Trust Me. I know what I’m doing.”
February is also Black History Month, and this year marks the 100th anniversary — a century of honoring Black excellence, resilience, and faith. A hundred years of stories that remind us that love has always been part of our survival. Loving our people. Loving our communities. Loving ourselves enough to dream bigger.
I think about Black love and legacy through stories like Hidden Figures — women who loved their work, their families, and their purpose so deeply that they changed history without waiting for permission. Or The Six Triple Eight, where Black women showed up with grace, strength, and excellence, even when the world didn’t acknowledge them right away. And then there’s the softer kind of love — the kind we saw growing up in shows like A Different World. Love that grows alongside ambition. Love that meets you in your becoming. Love that believes in who you are and who you’re becoming.
January was amazing for so many reasons, and I’m stepping into this next chapter of my life with excitement and intention. I’m choosing to move quietly, protect what God is building, and let love — not pressure — lead the way.
And to Black women reading this:
You are worthy of love that is soft and secure.
You are allowed to want romance and purpose.
You are allowed to be ambitious and gentle.
You are allowed to believe that love will meet you where you are — without shrinking yourself.
So here’s to February —
to God’s love,
to Black history and Black futures,
to romance, softness, and becoming,
and to trusting that what’s meant for you will find you.
